The City of Charlottesville Sister Cities Commission (CSCC) is now accepting applications for its 2025 Sister Cities Grants Program.
How much is the award?
With a total awards budget of up to $8,000, the Commission invites Charlottesville nonprofits, arts organizations, schools, businesses, and individuals to apply for project funding up to $2,500.
How will grant recipients be selected?
Grants are available for projects that benefit the Charlottesville community as well as our Sister City communities in Besançon, France; Poggio a Caiano, Italy; Winneba, Ghana; and Huehuetenango, Guatemala (“Friendship City” to Charlottesville, Sister City status pending).
Think widely and broadly - grants will be awarded for a variety of activities that meet the mission of the CSCC to promote understanding and foster relationships between citizens and organizations in the Charlottesville area and our Sister Cities through cultural, economic, educational, and humanitarian activities.
What type of grants do you fund?
Past grants have supported initiatives in history, the visual arts, music, municipal services, digital communications and connectivity, education, literary fields, sports, and photography.
Who can apply?
We welcome applications from all ages. However, under age 18 requires parent signature. Applications may be submitted by individuals or groups. Sister Cities Commissioners and sub-committee members may not apply.
How do I apply?
The 2025 Grants Application deadline is January 15, 2025. Applications must be received by this date to receive consideration. Late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered. Apply by filling out this form: https://form.jotform.com/243447822069159
When will I hear back about my application?
Grant recipients will be notified of the Commission’s award decision within 45 days of the application deadline date.

How will I receive the grant funds?
Funds will be available as reimbursements via itemized receipts. Expenditures must be detailed in a year-end report made to the CSCC.
